Andrew Short found himself sitting right where he finished at Hangtown after qualifying practice, giving himself the 16th gate pick for the first moto. Ironically, Shorty didn’t waiver one position from his qualifying spot on the first lap, settling into 16th place early in the first moto. He used his vet- eran consistency to throw down some steady lap times. He held 16th position for the first five laps of the race until he got caught up in a battle with Darryn Durham. Short briefly conceded the posi- tion to Durham, but it was short lived after a mistake by the Pennsylvania native gifted the position back. The veteran Texan was riding a fairly lonely race in 15th place had it not been for his team-
mate, Benny Bloss, calmly stalking him. The two of them moved through the field together, taking advantage of a Weston
Peick mistake and a injured Justin Bogle to move up to 13th and 14th, respectively. In the waning laps of the moto, Short wasn’t able
to match the elevated pace of Bloss, and he was relegated back to 14th by his teammate. He would finish the moto in 14th after a fairly
uneventful race. The second moto almost started the same exact way, Short was out of the gate right around 15th place, but he was
quickly overtaken by Cole Seely and Broc Tickle, putting him in 16th place yet again.
