As the moto began to wear on, Short began to catch Durham for 15th place; he eventually cashed in
a two-for-one special and took 14th from his teammate, Benny Bloss, just as he took 15th place from Durham. Subsequently, Shorty began to put a gap between himself and 15th place, attempting to close
the distance to the top 10 in the process. It was too late in the moto to do any real damage, and Short was forced to concede another position to the hard charging Freddie Noren late in the race. The Swede came from outside the top 20 and eventually relegated Short to 15th position after turning consistently faster lap times than the BTO Sports KTM rider. He ended up finishing up the day with a 15th overall by way of a 14 in moto 1 and a 15th in moto 2, Short will undoubtedly be looking to improve as the series heads east next weekend to Colorado.
