Christian Craig entered the gates at Glen Helen ready to have a much more consistent day of racing than the previous weekend in Hangtown. He found himself deep in the field early in both motos and really needed a good start to get things energized. He had a decent qualifying session coming away
with the eleventh quickest time and all that was left for him to do was try and get that good start.
As the 250 machines roared into the big Talladega first turn at Glen Helen, Christian Craig found himself stuck right in the middle off all of them. He emerged from lap one in fifteenth. Completely straying away from his pre race game plan and unfortunately things would only get worse for the fan favorite and local guy. He tried to make a move on teammate Jordon Smith but ended up landing on him and going down in a heap. The unconfirmed result of the fall appears to be a broken leg that would almost certainly keep him out for the foreseeable future. It is such a tragedy for Craig who finally seemed to be in a solid, smooth rhythm for the first time in his career.
