CHRISTIAN CRAIG

If you watched the 250 class season opener in Hangtown on TV last weekend, you probably just as- sumed that Christian Craig went back into retirement. You had good reason as he was hardly men-
tioned in the broadcast but that was because of his horrible luck early in the races. The normally adept holeshot artist could not get out of the gate and suffered from early crashes in both motos. What mainly went unnoticed were his great rides from behind. He went from dead last to fifteenth in moto one and from way back to eighth in moto two. He later joked on twitter if there was an award for eating the most roost. It wasn’t the way Craig wanted to start his potentially first full outdoor season. His career was full of injuries and he was never really able to overcome any of them and show his true potential. That is what prompted him to officially retire in 2014 but as we all know by now he got the call to come off the coach and fill in for Geico Honda last summer and his impact was instantly felt after notching the pole position in his first race back. He never did grab a win but he flirted in and around the podium all season. I can only imagine that he will get back to those ways at his hometown race in Glen Helen.
