Although he ended up 7th overall, Janik was easily the fastest rider in the class at the end of the week. That’s quite the testament to his durability and toughness after recovering from a scary crash. It’s also a good indication of the kind of raw speed that he possesses, because he was running lap times multiple seconds faster than former Loretta’s Champions and podium finishers. The other 65 class was easily his most consistent, he finished every moto in the top 5 and also racked up another win and a podium. Janik’s effort was enough to earn a 2nd place overall, narrowly missing out on the Leonidas award to fellow Cobra rider, Casey Cochran. The youngster out of Illinois also proved his mettle in the 85 (9-11) class after bouncing back from a first moto crash that forced him out of the top 5 and back into 18th. He rounded
out the weekend on the box in the final two motos and would have been right in contention for the overall podium had the mistake in the first moto not cost him so drastically. All in all, Janik had an incredibly impressive weekend for his first race back after a devastating injury and he’ll only continue to improve moving forward toward Ponca City.
