He came into the
long weekend at Baja Acres hoping to carry
the momentum he
had accumulated at Englishtown, contesting both 51cc classes aboard
his #316 Cobra machine. Richards had an incredibly consistent weekend throughout the racing at the Baja Brawl, never finishing worse than 4th place in six different motos. His best finish was a 2nd place in the first 51cc Open moto, working his way into the position on the final lap of the race. In the final moto of the class, Richards showed the speed to finish back on the podium, but a 6th place start hindered his chances of putting his Cobra on the box one last time. He finished 4th place in the remainder of his motos, riding very smooth and consistent in order to get an overall podium
in the 51cc (7-8) class. The New Jersey native will be gunning to get back on the rostrum at the next major amateur national in Ponca City; if he continues to ride the way he has throughout 2016 and fulfill his potential, he’ll be standing somewhere on the podium come October.
