>> Jessica Patterson hugged the inside in the first corner as she was able to secure the lead ahead of Kylie Fasnacht and Jordan Jarvis in the first breath of the race. Fasnacht attempted to show the Yamaha rider a wheel in the second corner by sticking to the in- side, but she lost traction on corner exit and ended up giving up an early disadvantage to the leader. Jarvis was able to keep Fasnacht honest by sticking to the rear fender of the Kawasaki rider for the opening couple of laps, but the three leaders eventually began to spread out as they hit lapped traffic. Patterson was relatively flaw- less at the front of the field as the seven time WMX champion rode dominantly ahead of the defending WMX champion. The Yamaha rider was making up time in the whoops section as she was the only rider skimming them, therefore providing her with a couple of tenths per lap advantage over Fasnacht. Patterson adapted her lines throughout the main event in order to find the optimal route through the lapped traffic. It acted as a window into her previous dominance on the women’s professional ranks as she led the race from start to finish with a fairly dominant victory ahead of two extremely talented riders.
