With curtains being drawn away, and the spotlight casting down upon the inaugural moto
of the outdoor series, many eyes were fixated on the number 44 Kawasaki. The Floridian found himself buried deep in a field of vicious predators, scratching and clawing just to stay inside the top twenty for the first few minutes. With each lap that ticked away, Cianciarulo would continue to climb the leaderboard, taking positions away from competitors like Luke Renzland and Kyle Peters. As the fifteen minute mark neared, he had crept into the top fifteen, and continued to surge forward. Tearoffs began to fly, appearing as though the riders were colliding with birds and dispersing feathers; rain began to fall, making the course more of an ice rink, rather than brown loam. AC44 would use what little professional experience he had in the treacherous conditions, and made a move on Austin Forkner for twelfth. Although not an ideal performance, he stayed healthy, gaining seat-time, and had ample opportunity for an improved second moto run.
