As the gate fell for moto number two, there appeared to be a mirage of green fox gear and Kawasaki
plastic at the front of the pack; although it did turn out to be true, the number 44 wasn’t in the midst of
the duo in which his teammates, Joey Savatgy and Austin Forkner created. He would hover near the top ten for the beginning sequences of the race, drastically diving into each deteriorating rut, and clutching the Kawasaki for all she had. Arms pumping, sweat filling the foam of his goggles, the hands of the young man began to turn white as he gripped the handlebars with a death-defying squeeze. Leaving all he had on the Hangtown course, the former amateur phenom would end the moto in eleventh, taking thirteenth overall for the first round record books.
