>> Chase Sexton was originally supposed to make his professional debut around a year ago after Loretta Lynn’s. Sadly injuries kept him from competing in the final 3 racers of the outdoor series last year. The anticipation for Sextons debut was put on hold and it looked like he wasn’t going to line up until the Supercross series. While preparing for SX Chase broke both wrists but was still able to line up for the east coast rounds. Another injury struck the rookie and he was unable to compete in any SX races all year. The goal of racing SX in 17’ was a wash and a new goal of lining up at Hangtown was set. Chase was then struck with another injury that set back his debut for the 4th and final time. Sex- ton missed the first three rounds of the outdoor 2017 season but since making his debut at round 4 at High Point he has yet to miss a race. Chase now has 6 rounds / 12 professional motos under his belt and he already has five top 5’s to his credit.
Chase seemed to struggle with the shadows of Washougal in the first race of the day as he finished where he started (13th). Race two was a completely differ- ent story for the rookie as he battled his way from outside of the top 30 to 12th position. This has been a common theme thus far in Chase’s pro career. By that I mean he has struggled in the first race of every national in one way or another and his second moto scores have always bested his first. This is Sextons first time on a lot of these tracks so maybe next year Sexton can live up to the hype, here’s hoping.
