>> Sean Cantrell is a rookie in the professional ranks but he made his presence known right away at the first round of the Lucas Oil Pro Moto- cross series at Hangtown as he used his great starting technique to run with the front of the field in the first moto of the year before finishing inside of the top 10. Since then we have seen the #129 run near the front of the field a few times but he has been struggling to get himself back into the top ten this second half of the series. This isn’t odd to hear about a rookie but Cantrell had high hopes and he looked to get himself back on track this weekend in Washougal.
Race one Sean nearly got the holeshot and rounded out the first turn in 2nd behind Aaron Plessinger. The TLD KTM rider then withheld the pres- sure from Adam Cianciarulo and Dylan Ferrandis for the next 15 minutes. Just as the riders passed the mid way point Sean couldn’t hold off AC or Ferrandis any longer and was pushed back to 4th. Shortly after Ferrandis’ teammate Mitchell Harrison made his way past Cantrell and the rookie was now holding onto 5th. The race couldn’t end quick enough for the #129 as 5 minutes remained on the clock the rookie was starting to take fire from Hampshire and Osborne. Cantrell didn’t make it easy on either rider but eventually lost both positions and was now 7th. Three laps remained and Cantrell lost one more position to the overall winner of the day Joey Savat- gy. In race two Cantrell started in 10th and dropped positions all race long. It was almost as the rookie used all of his steam in race one. He ended up finishing 16th in moto two giving him 12th overall. If this guy can get the stamina for two consistent finishes the rest of the field will be in trouble.
