>> Nick Gaines has been on the motocross scene for a long time. Nick was a big pros- pect in the amateur scene and was riding for team green since he was on 85’s. Gaines struggled a bit before making his professional debut and was unable to get a ride with the Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad. Nick did get support from the Traders Kawasaki team though and although he hasn’t put in the best results there is signs of great things out of the young professional. Nick has steadily progressed each year. Although Nick has rode on Kawasaki’s for most of his life, his team made the switch to Yamaha’s for 2017 and the switch has already been proving to be a great decision. In 2016 Nick had one top
15 finish and so far in 2017 he has 9 and has one top ten finish. Nick also has finished inside of the points every race so far except one. The Yamaha and Gaines have been making gains all year long.
Race one at Washougal Nick started around mid pack and made his way up to 15th position. The #78 of Gaines got a better start in race two and came around lap one
in 15th. Gaines stayed in this position for nearly the entire race, but his never give up attitude gave him that extra push to make two passes on the final three laps. I feel like 2018 is going to be a big year for Nick as he is at an important time in his career. He is three years into his professional career and this is the time you tend to see riders make a name for themselves.
