Lawson Bopping had a dreadful night in San Diego. After a good 21st place
qualifying effort he looked to be ready to keep his streak of main events alive.
Unfortunately his night would quickly take a turn for the worst. Bopping would be involved in a nasty first turn crash in his heat race after being bumped by another rider. His arm would end up in the rear wheel of someone else’s bike and he got drug into the corner. As you would imagine that ended his heat race. Bopping showing some true grit lined up for the semi and got off to a mid pack start and found himself in 7th place. He was all alone as the lead pack had gotten away and he had put some time between him and 8th place. But 7th place is not enough to transfer so it was onto the LCQ.
Anything can happen in the LCQ and Bopping would once again find that out the hard way. Coming out of the first turn on the holeshot, he looked to be in prime position until Blake Baggett washed the front end leaving him no where to go and he would crash right into Baggett. Bopping’s second first turn crash of the night would end his quest for another main event. Bopping will quickly put this rough night behind him and he will look to get back in the main event next weekend in Arlington.
