The positions began to jumble, as this track allowed for some very tight knit racing; immediate left and right hand corners followed short stretches of straight track. Reed was then gobbled up by a “San Diego” charging Eli Tomac, but was rewarded a gift when BTO Sports’ Justin Brayton went off the track, solidifying a fourth place finish and invitation to the late night festivities.
Listed as eighth around turn number one, the Aussie was forced to turn the signals on and navigate through the traffic jam, moving into seventh across timing and scoring. Holding it until lap six, Reed was moved out of the way by a hard charging Jason Anderson and forced to eighth. Anchoring the position until the Yamaha crossed the checkered, the eighth place puts Chad just two points out of fourth as the series heads east.
