WELCOME
The hype, conjecture, and speculation have always surrounded the premier class during the lead-up to the Monster Energy Cup, oftentimes brushing the amateur classes underneath the rug. Time and time again, the Supermini and Amateur All-Stars class have operated as a proving grounds for the upcoming riders to show their worth on the main stage, producing
in their local football/baseball stadium and put themselves through the paces of what it takes to be a supercross competitor. Dirt Wurx gets to work on the track following the 450SX main event and transforms it into a more “amateur friendly” supercross track overnight, but the glitz and glamor stay the same. The finish line structure and signature starting gate provide the competitors with the unmistakable feeling
a multitude of future AMA Supercross winners. Considering the introduction of Supercross Futures in 2019, the young riders of the sport have an opportunity to compete under the spot- light of Monster Energy Supercross throughout the entire season, as opposed to just a one-off event at Sam Boyd Stadium in October. In- stead, Monster Energy Cup will serve as the newly branded Supercross Futures AMA Na- tional Championship, providing an entirely new perspective for the event. It allows the up-and- coming riders of the future a better opportunity at learning the technicalities of a supercross track and also provides them a closer look at what a professional race weekend may look like for them in the future. Conversely, it pro- vides any rider that may want a chance to ride
of racing on the world’s biggest stage, under the bright lights in a multi-million dollar stadium. It’s an incredible opportunity for youngsters and vet riders alike to try their hand at supercross racing and it’s here to stay in 2019. After much success in 2018, a total of eight rounds have been added as a supplementary show to the seventeen round Monster Energy Supercross series, running the races on the following Sun- day. It’s definitely a major alteration that is go- ing to shape the future of the sport in a big way, providing the stars of tomorrow an opportunity to hone their skills and soak up the sensation of a supercross gate drop.
