The Team Dunlop Elite rider made the move for the top spot at the midway point of the race and kept his focus on the eventual checkered flag, taking the win by an advan- tage of three and a half seconds at the finish line. Things didn’t go as planned in the main event as he suffered a small crash on the opening lap, but the potential is clearly there on the bigger bike. In the 85cc (9-12) class, Deegan laid down another heat race victory in impressive fashion, but he wasn’t able to put it all together in the main event. He shot down the start-straight and emerged from the first corner within the top three, chasing down the Suzuki duo of Julien Beau- mer and Casey Cochran on the opening lap. Deegan wasn’t able to find an opportunity in which he could force his way towards the front and ended up settling into a solid pace in third position, eventually settling for the final spot on the podium.
