ROUND 3 | ANAHEIM 2
The rst Triple Crown of the year at Anaheim 2 de nitely mixed things up for the fans and the riders. The tension was palpable as the athletes competed in three main events as opposed to one, ramping up the intensity and the drama. Eli Tomac nally bounced back in the same stadium that orchestrated his demise at the beginning of the year, placing himself in the history books
as the rst winner of the Triple Crown in the premier class.
The new format caused a lot of surprises on the results sheet, producing unlikely main event winners and podium nishers
in the form of Cole Seely and Justin Brayton. On the contrary, Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen struggled to compete at the front of the pack, nishing thirteenth and ninth, respectively. The
250 class didn’t disappoint
either, producing some intense racing towards the front of the pack. Aaron Plessinger was the biggest loser after skyrocketing to the top of the 250SX West points chase following Houston, nishing down in sixth place overall. Meanwhile, Joey Savatgy and Shane McElrath battled for supremacy, splitting the main event victories with the advantage going to the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider. Prior to the night of racing in Glendale, the season had produced a different overall winner every weekend in both classes. Could someone get their second victory of the season in Arizona?
