win with a valiant second place finish following a battle with EBR Yamaha’s Tanner Stack. Only five motos later, he was due back to the line for the first of two 250 Pro AM races. The #99 didn’t time the gate drop to perfection, but he still managed to fit inside the top five on the opening lap of action. He became entangled in a battle for position with Stack, forcing him back to fifth position at the midway point of the race. Kobusch pushed his way back into fourth place on the final lap, just missing out on the podium by a small margin. A couple of hours later, the Missourian rolled up to the gate for the second Open Pro Sport heat race, subsequently making it look easy by grabbing another holeshot and disappear- ing at the front of the field, charg- ing through the choppy sand track on his way to a seventeen second win. It was obvious that he had found his rhythm on the incessantly shapeshifting circuit, continuing his domination in the 450 A class with another clear cut victory later that evening. Ko- busch kept himself in the hunt for four number one plates on the fi- nal day of racing at the Brawl due to the consistency of his results. He started the day off with a splendid start in the 250 A class, but a mistake in the early stages of the race would drop him back to eighth place in an instant. The Kawasaki rider was only able to recover for a fifth place finish, but it was good enough to salvage
a third overall. Nonetheless, the teenager harnessed the compo- sure of a veteran and put the mis- take behind him for the rest of the day, storming forward to a pair of flawless victories in the 450 A and Open Pro Sport classes, captur- ing two number one plates in the process. Kobusch accumulated tons of positive momentum and an upbeat mentality heading into Monster Energy Cup where test his skills against some of the best A riders in the country in a show- down for supercross supremacy.
