After starting the year off on the back foot due to a couple of serious injuries at the end of the 2016 season, Zane Merrett has really come into his own as the year has progressed. The Texan has collected a multitude of trophies this year in the B class, including a couple of national titles earlier in the year at the GNC International Motocross Final at Oak Hill. Merrett has established himself a perennial podium contender in the B class throughout the season. He proved his potential at the Ranch with a couple of moto wins in the 450 B Limited class, narrowly miss- ing out on the title due to a bad crash in the second moto. Merrett was hungry for another title coming into the 2017 Baja Brawl; there are only a couple of races remaining before he makes the move to the A class, and the Texan is looking to go out on top before he makes the jump
for 2018. Merrett’s consistent speed was evident throughout the first day of racing on Saturday as he finished all three races on the podium, putting together a pair of second place finishes in the 250 B and 450 B Limited classes with a third place in the 450 B class.
