He stalked Carter Biese for a couple of laps, jumping into second position at the halfway point of the race, but he wasn’t able to make any impression on the lead and settled for a comfortable second place. By the time the 250 Limited race came around, the track had developed ruts and bumps that resembled that of a pro national. Mashburn made things easy on himself and his motorcycle by grabbing the early lead, avoiding any roost or traffic. On the third lap, the Texan set the fastest lap of the moto and cemented himself in firm control of the race with a double digit lead, subsequently coasting to the checkered flag. On Saturday, he regained his consistency and put together three podium fin- ishes, including two moto wins. The Orange Brigade rider started the day off with a spirited charge forward in the 250 B class, forcing his way past Matthew Gross and Caleb Carter in the early stages of the moto in order to grab a second place finish. The remainder of the day was flawless for Mashburn as he gained the early lead in the Schoolboy 2 class as well as the 250 B Limited class, effortlessly riding his way to both victories as the fastest rider on the track. His speed and consistency came together throughout the weekend in order to form the perfect storm on Monday, allowing him to execute three relatively flawless moto victories that provided him with two championships. The young Texan rose to the occasion and performed exceedingly well under pressure, nailing all three of his starts to put him at an early advantage on his way to a flawless day at the Brawl. Mashburn’s recent results have inspired a new level of riding and he’ll be one of the favorites to grab a couple more titles in the B class with only a couple of major races left in the 2017 season.
