It’s safe to say that Kade Johnson had a breakout year in the 65cc class during the 2017 amateur motocross season. The young Texan’s full-time jump to the 65cc machine has undoubtedly paid off which has been evident in his results throughout the year. He has collected a multitude of trophies and a few number one plates throughout the major amateur nationals, but most importantly he was able to capture the national championship in the 65 (7-9) Limited class at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. The Texan made the trip to the Baja Brawl for the first time in his young career, still beaming with confidence from his outstanding result at the Ranch. The Husqvarna rider was able to continue his exceptional form in both 65cc (7-9) classes, finishing the weekend with six podiums, including four moto wins, and two overall victories. In addition to his success in the (7-9) class, Johnson also managed to fight his way to a fourth place overall finish in the (7-11) class against older, more experienced competition. Saturday produced a nearly flawless day of racing for for the Husqvarna rider as he captured both moto victories in the various (7-9) classes, quickly setting himself apart from the rest of the field. In the Limited moto, Johnson shot out of the gate to a holeshot and never looked back, putting four solid laps together in order to take the win in fairly uncontested fashion. In the (7-9) mod class, the Husqvarna ride found himself in a heated battle with Orange Brigade’s
