Marvin rode the rest of the race well and took a well-deserved 2nd place. In the next moto, Musquin did not get the good start he wanted and was outside the top ten early on. Marvin diced his way into 7th quickly and was following Eli Tomac through the pack. He made his way into 5th and had fellow KTM rider, Short in front of him again. Marvin finally got by and set his focus on Barcia. He was able to begin to pressure Barcia for the podium position with about three laps to go. With every effort put forth, Marvin was not able to get it done and finished 4th which was good enough for 3rd overall at Budds Creek.
