JOEY SAVATGY
To think that Joey Savatgy struggled to find support while transitioning to the professional ranks, and is now one of the fastest 250 riders in the world. Ktm had a support team and they ended up going to Millsaps Training Facility to talk to trainer, Coleen Millsaps and she pointed the finger right at the young Savatgy. It didn’t take long for Joey to show his potential as his first race in the professional ranks he was putting a wheel on defending supercross champion Eli Tomac. He scored 6 top 10
finishes in his first season in the west coast series and was rewarded with rookie of the year. The following year (2014) we didn’t see @versacesavatgy37 much due to injuries, he did show that he could be a contender by getting 2nd overall at one of the final national rounds in Indiana. All of a sudden the rider who once was struggling to find support got a call from 250 power house team Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki. 2015 was a rebound year for Joey and
it was a year of just getting himself familiar to the Kawasaki machines and to prepare for 2016. Not only did Joey get himself
on one of the best teams but he starting to train with Genie Carmichael, mother of the legendary Ricky Carmichael who is nicknamed the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). Even though the #37 didn’t win a championship in either Supercross or Motocross this year he has learned an instrumental amount of experience and 2017 should be his year for title or two.
