After a very disappointing race a week ago at Unadilla where Savatgy actually pulled off the second moto due to heat exhaustion the Pro Circuit rider was poised to put himself on the top step of the podium at Budds Creek. Joey did exactly what he needed to off the start of the first race, although he had a good start his rival Alex Martin, who he is tied with in points for second in the standings was ahead of him. With
the track being so fast paced Savatgy found it hard to get around 3rd place rider Jordan Smith. Forkner and Osborne where catching Savatgy and Smith as they battled for third and Joey knew that he had to get around the Geico rider before getting caught in a 4 way battle. Finally the #37 got around Smith at the midway point, but Smith wanted the position back and tried to pass Joey in the rhythm section before the finish line. Both of the riders lines came together and Jordan actually touched his front tire to Joeys rear on the landing of the 2nd double and it looked like both riders might go down. Luckily they where able to keep it on two wheels and Joey began to pull away. This is the second week in a row that Savatgy has had a poor moto 2 finish. Joey is the first person to tell you that he is pissed off with his riding and I can guarantee one thing, even though the season is next to being finished he will continue with his training routine because this kid does not settle. 3-34 for 9th overall pretty well ended his chances on finish- ing second in the points race, but look for the #37 to end the season on a high note.
