IMAGES / LAKE KILPATRICK The stocky build of Peick didn’t seem to blend well with the rather deep start of Budd’s Creek. Weston,
goggles saturated with dirt, sat 15th after the first few laps of battle. Peick, not seeming to find his groove, stood at a standstill in 15th as the race neared the crossing of the flags. Both rider and machine weren’t on the same page, the back end dancing, and each breaking bump feeling as if it were Mt. Everest. Eventually, Peick had to pull into the mechanics area, and have his wrench assess the problems the bike was having. He would go on to finish 35th. After assessing the damage of the bike, the JGR crew and Peick went to the gate for round two looking to cause some damage to the rest of the field. Although a motivating pep talk was issued, Peick’s lethargic start woes continued, as he sat 11th six minutes into the moto. Putting the beast of 450, we all know as a JGR Yamaha, into the mother earth of Maryland, Peick dodged and pivoted his way past riders such as Matt Bisce- glia and Benny Bloss to sit ninth by the halfway point. Now trailing Freddie Noren, the California bear would trail the Honda pilot
to the finish line, narrowly missing the seventh place position. A 35-8 result on the day isn’t ideal, but Peick knows how to rebound and looks to at the conclusion of the series.
