>> In 2016 Colt Nichols missed the final three rounds of racing in the motocross circuit, his best finish being a 6th. Other then that lone 6th place finish in the second moto at High Point he was unable to crack the top ten all year long. Luck- ily he showed promise in supercross earlier that year and he received support from the Star Racing YamaLube Yamaha team coming into 2017. This year in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series Colt has been in the top ten more often then not with 16 top ten’s including 4 top five’s. Colt has yet to get on the podium but the leaps he has made are impressive. After the first lap in moto one today at Budds Creek Colt was placed in 17th. With ten minutes remaining in the race the #39 was up to 7th where he would go on to finish. @coltnichols39 got a much bet-
ter start in race two and was sitting just outside of the top 5. The Yamaha rider kept pace of the top five guys for much of the race but couldn’t make up enough ground to make a pass. Just after the riders passed the mid way point Nichols re- ceived a gift from a fallen Jeremy Martin which put Colt into 5th. Star Racing lost their top two riders coming into 2017 and although all of their riders have shown promise this year not one of them has become the leader of the pack. Could Colt become the team leader in 2018?
