>> It has been a year of struggle and patience for the #486 Geico Honda rider of Chase Sexton as he graduated out of the amateur ranks over a year ago and has only made 8 rounds of racing so far as a pro. Chase left the amateur ranks as a prospect, many believed in the hype that he brought
with him to the table as he was one of the only riders his age to beat Austin Forkner. At this point Austin was running upfront with the fastest 250 riders in the AMA. Injuries kept Sexton from lining up on the gate as professional for nearly a full year. Since making his debut at Highpoint earlier this year Sexton has become a name to remember already with 8 top ten finishes to his credit. This weekend at Budds Creek may have been the best racing Sexton has produced even if it may not look like it on paper. In moto one Chase got caught up in the pile up in the first corner and charged his way through the pack with Zach Osborne trailing him the entire way. It took Osborne nearly
the entire race to get himself around Chase which is almost unheard of. The pass might not have even happened if a lapped rider wasn’t in the way of Chase on a inside corner leading up to the uphill triple. Chase would finish in 9th. In race two Chase got a touch eager on the start and let out his clutch a split second before the gate dropped which resulted in him getting stuck in the gate and coming around the first corner in dead last. By the end of the open- ing lap Chase was already up to 21st position. At the midway point of the race Sexton just got into the top ten around Steven Clarke. Chase charged right to the end of the race and was able to get by Mitchell Harrison with 3 minutes to go to get 9th once again. 9-9 moto scores gave him 8th overall. Both races he started near last place, consider me impressed.
