>> Lorenzo Locurcio, the rider out of Venezuela, arrived in Mechanicsville, Maryland hungry to capitalize on his seventeenth place overall results at Unadilla last weekend. Locurcio and his Cycle Trader/ Rock River Yamaha lined up for the first moto at Budd’s Creek on the hunt for a great start. Un- fortunately after the gates dropped, first turn carnage took down quite a few promising riders, including Locurcio. The number 183 machine found himself in the thirty-fifth place position on the first lap of the moto. Instead of letting
it defeat him, Lorenzo went to work and started quickly working through the traffic that occupied the track before him. By the halfway point, Locurcio had made his way all the way up to seventeenth place and stayed there until the checkered. Working his way through almost half of the pack, Lorenzo Lo- curcio truly rode with heart in the first moto. The second moto rolled around and, with a roughening track, Locurcio knew that he needed a better start to this moto. The thirty-second card went up and the gates fell. Locurcio was able to get off to a much better start on his Yamaha this time and came out of the first corner in the eighteenth place spot. Lap by lap, Lorenzo Locurcio stayed solid and was able to gain three positions by the time the checkered flag came out. With a 17-15 for the day, Locurcio left Budd’s Creek with a hard earned and well-deserved fifteenth place overall. With only one round remaining, it would be great to see Locurcio break into the top fifteen again, or maybe even the top ten at Ironman.
