the main event did not go as well as his heat race or the previous main event in oakland. nichols
suffered a poor start and would have to climb his way through the pack. It was a relatively quiet ride as he was overshadowed by the battle going on for the lead. However, he managed to charge all the way up to 5th place and would try and get Mitchell Oldenburg in 4th but he ran out of laps. A 5th place finish is a phenomenal spot for Nichols but he now knows he has the speed to be contending with the leaders and has to be wondering how he would have done if he had just gotten a better start. The season rolls onto San Diego II next weekend and Colt Nichols will be looking to get that better start and try to play the role of spoiler in the championship series.
