the young Colt nichols had himself a solid night
in Glendale and it all began with a solid showing in qualifying where he would emerge with the fifth fastest time. he would then go on to the heat race
where he would show some serious speed. Nichols didn’t get the best of starts but he would make up for it by quickly making passes and moving into third. He set his sights on the top two riders, Webb and Craig, and would catch up to them surprisingly fast. No one expected this out of the young rider and he would actu- ally end up making a move on Craig but only to give it right back. Nichols would end up third behind Webb and Craig but he proved he
has the speed to run right with those guys.
