Nick Schmidt looked to continue his streak of main events in Glendale. He started the night off with a great qualifying effort and came out with the 19th best time. Schmidt began his heat race with a subpar start and he would pay for it. He was able to log some solid laps and push up to 10th but it was not enough and he would ride onto the semis.
