Feeling it in the older of the two Supermini classifications, Mumford went on to blitz the field in Moto one, laying down the law with the best lap time in route to 1st place finish. As day one came to a close, Carson cruised to a 2nd moto victory in the Mini Sr. class to com- plete the sweep, dropped a spot to 4th in Supermini 1 and locked up his second overall with 1-3 moto scores in Supermini 2.
Hoping for more in day two, on a carefully groomed outdoor landmark of amateur racing, Mumford seemed to bring the same recipe. Railing on the four-stroke Honda 150, Mumford again came out in Mini Sr. 2 with heat two victory and the first ticket to the starting line for the second moto. Again coming off the line on fire, Carson held down the top spot for the first three laps until a little scuffle with Dilan Schwartz made things interesting. Dilan getting by on lap four was all the motivation Mumford needed to scurry back by Schwartz on
the final lap to finish the weekend sweeping all four races he entered in Sr. 2. Putting the victory behind him, Carson jumped back on
the bike after a short rest to compete in the Supermini 1 division, his worst class on day one. Starting the heat better than he had on Wednesday, Carson sealed a 2nd and came into moto two hoping to improve. Unfortunately, a bad jump saw Mumford off the line in 8th forcing him to face an uphill climb. By the end of lap three, Carson was up to 6th and proceeded to pick off a position a lap to finish 4th, just like day one. Turning up the heat, Carson bounced back in Supermini 2. He didn’t have the best first moto, again coming from be- hind to finish 4th but seemed to shake it off by the start of his last moto. Carson shot off screaming up the hill in 1st and didn’t look back. With Schwartz having to battle from behind, Mumford was alone up front and edged out his rival by three seconds to earn his 2nd victory of the day, 2nd in the class and 4th of the week. As the summer rolls on, things are looking good for the future of the red squad.
