Many would think a young man headed to the prestigious Mammoth Lakes, California Mountains would be in search of the legendary black bear, as the environment is perfectly suited for the animal we all know to rule the forest. And while we’re at it, lets eat some scrumptious gummy bears; who doesn’t like to eat the savoring candies on a little road trip?
Although the above paragraph may apply to Perris’ Josh Varize, he was headed to Mammoth for a different bear: the infamous, delicately hand carved wooden bear given to the kings of Mammoth Motocross, something that very few get to hold.
Following a few productive practice sessions and pre-race warm-ups, Varize was ready to throw caution to
the wind and get his own taste of that picturesque, race-ready, Northern California loam.
