CASEY COCHRAN
Casey Cochran has accumulated a total of three Loretta Lynn MX Amateur National Championships throughout his budding career as a motocross racer. All three of his titles at the Ranch have been won on board a Cobra, the most recent number one plate coming in the 65cc (10-11) Limited class last year. The Tennes- see native has struggled with consistency throughout his career at the Ranch, but his outright speed and determination on the track is unquestionable. He’s found the top spot on the podium every other year in Hurricane Mills, but will be looking to break that habit this year and get back on top of the box. Cochran has since graduated off the Cobra and competes strictly in the 85cc class aboard a Suzuki, but the transition hasn’t slowed him down in the slightest. The Team Dunlop Elite rider started off the year with a couple of AX races as well as a title at the Daytona RCSX and continued in strong form throughout the spring, landing on the podium at Spring A Ding Ding, Freestone, and JuniorMotoX. He achieved a second and third place result in the 85cc (9-11) Limited and (9-12) divisions at the Southeast Regional Qualifier, putting him in the right frame of mind heading into the big dance at the Ranch.
KRYSTIAN JANIK
The last time that Krystian Janik got a proper go out at the Loretta Lynn’s Ama- teur National Championship, he snagged a third place finish in the 51cc (7-8) Limited class. He missed the race in 2016 and had a rough week in 2017 which
was affected by poor luck and some minor injuries, but Janik is determined to redeem himself in 2018. The Kawasaki rider logged some impressive results in a mud-soaked Mideast Regional Qualifier at Sunday Creek MX, finishing first and third in 85cc (9-11) Limited and 85cc (9-12), respectively. Apart from a successful road to Loretta’s, Janik has found success at a multitude of events throughout the 2018 racing season. The Illinois native landed on the podium at the Monster Energy Amateur Supercross in Atlanta as well as the Daytona RCSX and the JS7 Free- stone Spring Championship. He’s been able to maintain consistent results and pose a threat in the various 85cc divi- sions throughout the entire season, so it’s foolish to think that it will be any different when the board goes sideways in Hur- ricane Mills.
