DREW ADAMS
Drew Adams was practically unstoppable last year in the 51cc (7-8) Limited class, winning all three of his motos in comfortable fashion en route to his first Loretta Lynn MX Amateur National Championship. Despite one unfortunate moto in the 65cc class, he would’ve had a legitimate shot at another ti- tle, but was forced to settle for second place overall. The Tennessee native bombarded the competition with pressure throughout the spring events at the beginning of the year, collecting a total of six number one plates for his efforts. Adams carried that momentum into the Southeast Regional Loretta Lynn’s Qualifiers where he scored a couple of third place finishes in two separate 65cc divi- sions, setting him for success when the gate drops at the Ranch. The Cobra Elite rider has improved leaps and bounds on his CX65 since just coming up short at Loretta’s last year and he’s going to be hungry for another title when the racing gets going in Hurricane Mills.
KADE
JOHNSON
Kade Johnson managed to log some solid results during his first three trips to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, but he went above and beyond last year as he came out on top in the 65cc (7-9) Limited class, earning his first AMA Amateur National Championship. It was his first time finishing in the top five overall at
the Ranch, let alone finishing on top of the overall podium, and it clearly propelled his confidence to new heights in the races that followed. Johnson attracted attention from the Team Dunlop Elite program as well as support from the Factory Yamaha amateur program. The Texas native earned the number one spot in the 65cc (10-11) class
at the Daytona RCSX and continued with
an impressive podium streak throughout the ensuing spring events; finishing on the box at both Spring A Ding Ding, the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship, and the California Classic. Johnson was the man to beat at the Loretta Lynn’s Southeast Regional in the various 65cc divisions, winning both of his classes to punch his tickets to the Ranch in style. The Team Dunlop Elite rider made the trip to Mammoth Mountain Motocross and captured a couple of big bears for his efforts, making history as the first rider to win aboard the brand new YZ65 at an AMA Major Event -- can he make history as the first rider to do so at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship?
