MAXIMUS VOHLAND
It was more than evident during Maximus Vohland’s first trip to Lo- retta Lynn’s Ranch that he was going to be a standout performer in the world of amateur motocross for years to come. The Orange Brigade KTM rider finished second in the 65cc (7-9) Limited class at his very first attempt in Hurricane Mills and he’s added three overall podium finishes to his tally since. The Californian has one Loretta Lynn Amateur National Championship to his name, cap- turing a number one plate in the 65cc (10-11) Limited class back in 2015. His result in the past couple of years don’t truly reflect his speed as he’s encountered some unfortunate circumstances and bike malfunctions that have hindered his overall results, but any- one who has kept an eye on the Supermini class this year under- stands that he’s one of the favorites to leave with a number one plate. The Team Dunlop Elite rider has been on a tear throughout the entirety of the 2018 racing season, starting things off with a pair of titles at Spring A Ding Ding and the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. Vohland continued in good form and swept both Supermini classes at the Cal Classic before completely dominat- ing his respective Loretta Lynn Regional Qualifiers. Shortly after- wards, he came to Mammoth Mountain Motocross with a number one plate to defend, taking home a total of five big bears and two number one plates in the Supermini division.
TAYLER ALLRED
Tayler Allred really proved herself on the big stage last year at the Loretta Lynn Am- ateur Motocross Championship, capturing the second number one plate of her ca- reer at the Ranch for the second year on the trot. The Utah native won the last it- eration of the Girls Jr. (9-13) class in 2016 and came out on top in the Girls (11-16) class with a trio of second place moto fin- ishes, in addition to a third place overall in the Women (12+) Amateur division. Allred has been no stranger to the top step of the podium throughout the 2018 racing season thus far, winning the Women (12+) class at both Spring A Ding Ding and the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship aboard her KTM Supermini. The teenager has been mixing it up with the boys in the Supermini class as well, scoring multiple top ten finishes at various events across the country. The Team Dunlop Elite rider has put her best foot forward throughout her respective qualifying races, trouncing the competition in the Girls (11-16) and Women (12+) class at the Horn Rapids Northwest Regional. There’s a lot of pressure heading to Loretta Lynn’s as a previous champion, but Allred has proven herself capable of embracing the pressure once before.
