NATE THRASHER
After an incredible series of top notch results at Mini-O’s last year earned him a Team Green Kawasaki ride, Nate Thrasher has been making a name for himself in the Mini Sr. and Supermini divisions across the sprawling amateur motocross calendar. The Tennes-
see native scored his first overall podium finish in his home state at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship, boosting his confidence heading into the final few races of the season. He didn’t quite achieve the success that he was hoping for at the Monster Energy Cup, but Thrasher was out for redemption at The Motoplayground Race at Ponca City. He contested both Supermini divisions and kept himself at the front of the pack each time that he lined up on the gate, scoring three moto wins between four races -- a poor start in the second Supermini 1 moto lessened his chances of a clean sweep, but he was still able to earn the title in the Supermini 2 class in flawless fashion. There was an incredible battle for the lead at the start of the opening Supermini 2 moto as Thrasher found himself in a sandwich between Kaeden Amerine and Jeremy Ryan on the opening lap. He stayed right within the wheel tracks of the KTM ahead of him and eventually made the move into the lead on the third lap, but the race was far from over as Jeremy Ryan moved into second place with two laps to go. Thrasher was able to resist the pressure from his fellow Kawasaki rider and hold onto a half second advantage at the finish line, putting himself in the driver’s seat heading into the final moto. It was another solid start for the Tennessee native, settling into third position in the early stages of the race. He quickly promoted himself into second place on the first flying lap with his sights set on Amerine in the lead, but he was well aware that the second place was enough to take the number one plate. Thrasher still charged forward and set the fastest time of the moto on the penultimate lap, but it wasn’t enough to catch Amerine. Nonetheless, the KTM rider ended up receiving a penalty and he was credited with the win, providing him with a perfect score and the number one plate.
