>> Cameron McAdoo made the jump from the amateur ranks in com- manding style as he qualified 12th in the AX class with a 21.84. He also contested the AX Lites division in which he posted the 10th fast- est lap time with a 22.01. McAdoo got out to an early lead in his heat race as he pulled an exceptional start out of the gate, but a mistake early on that dropped him back through the field forced him to claw his way up to a 5th place finish. Although he qualified for the main event, he opted to focus on the AX class and did not start the Lites main event later in the evening. Instead, the Smarttop MotoConcepts rider immediately began to mix it up with the big boys. In his AX class heat race, he started just on the verge of the top 5; he was able to make his way past Hunter Hilton early on and attempt to track down Gared Steinke just ahead of him, but he wasn’t able to make a dent in the Motosport Hillsboro rider’s gap, forcing him to settle for 5th place. McAdoo was easy to spot in the midst of the action as his uniquely erratic style was in full force in the main events. He didn’t do himself any favors with his starts as he began both main events outside of the top 10, but he put his head down and charged hard in order to finish both races within the top 10. The second main event was especially impressive as he put himself all the way down in 15th position early on in the race, but he showed experience and composure to make passes when he needed to and worked his way all the way up to 9th place by the end of the moto. McAdoo is well on his way to captur- ing his road to supercross points and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise
to see him knock on the door of the podium in upcoming rounds now that he’s comfortable with the format and the tight, gnarly racing.
