JAKE WEIMER
450 SX / A-1
IMAGE / MPG WORDS / HARNISHFEGER DESIGN / WILSON
>> At the end of the offseason, Jake Weimer was left off
of all the big time teams leaving many to wonder what the future held for him. We would all find out just days before
the season opener when Justin Barcia got injured and Auto- Trader/JGR Suzuki gave Weimer the call. He would fill-in for the injured Barcia. Weimer seized the opportunity and did not want to let the team down. He initially got off to a great start in his heat race but would fall backwards to eighth place by the end of it. The intensity of the 450 class this year will eat anyone up if they aren’t on their toes, especially at the be- ginning of the race. Weimer corrected his mistakes from the heat race and won his semi by going wire to wire. He looked ready to contend in the main event. A bad start plagued Weimer right from the get go in the main. He was buried
in sixteenth on lap one. He put his head down and slowly picked riders off throughout the race. He had Broc Tickle pro- viding the heat from the start motivation him to stay sharp. Weimer would be able to scoop up five spots while holding off Tickle to notch eleventh in the first main event of the year.
