>> Battling some lingering injuries, Tyler Bowers came off a decent season last year with a fifth overall in the East Coast 250 class. For 2017 he jumped ship from the Pro Circuit Ka- wasaki team over to the 51fifty Yamaha team. Starting a new season on a fresh team is always tough, but Bowers made
it look easy. He qualified directly into the Main Event with a seventh place in his heat race. Not getting the best jump out of the gate in the main event, the Yamaha rider was in twelfth right in front of the Honda rider Jimmy Decotis. A couple minutes into the race he was no longer able to hold off Deco- tis and fell back one place. Even though he lost a position to the Honda rider they were moving through the pack together and he was up to eleventh. With a lot of action happening in front and behind him Bowers was able to hold a steady pace and cross over the finish line in eleventh. Not the smoothest start to his 2017 season, but things will look up for the 51fifty Yamaha rider.
