JOSH HERRIN : MOTUL SUPERBIKE
The weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts for the Meen Motorsports rider as he had issues with his electronics package throughout the first couple days of practice. He narrowly missed out on Superpole after only spinning five or six flying laps around the three and a half mile course, putting him in thirteenth place on the grid. The Georgia resident displayed his incredible race craft in the early stages of the opening race as he shot up from thirteenth place onto the edge of the top five in the opening laps. Herrin was one of five riders to clock a lap time within the 2:10 range, but he struggled a little bit to tame the beastly R1 in the latter stages of the race with no traction control available to him. Despite the adversity, the twenty-six year old ended up finishing the race in seventh place overall as the top Yamaha Superbike. In the second race, Herrin was able to pull off similar early race heroics as he leapfrogged multiple positions to place himself inside the top ten. As the laps ticked off, he found himself in a bit of a battle with Mathew Scholtz and Danny Eslick, but he was able to separate from the pair of Yamahas as he cemented himself in sixth position on his way to the checkered flag.
