Matt Bisceglia came into Daytona aiming to get back inside the top 10 that he has become accustomed to doing in the past few years. He was able to clock in the 16th fastest qualifying time and knew he would have to do some work come race time if
he wanted one of those top 10 spots.
Bisceglia got off to a fast start in the heat race coming out of the gates in 3rd place. He was in great position but he got engulfed by the intensity that comes in the early stages of 250 heat races and fell back a few spots. Bisceglia would not be able to really settle in after those hectic first few laps and would fall back a few more spots and end up 7th place. But he safely qualified for the main and was ready to do battle for a long 15 laps.
The main event saw Bisceglia throw down another great start and this time around he was the one using the inten- sity on the first lap and he moved up into 5th place. All looked good for Bisceglia as he only surrendered one spot in the first five laps but then he would suffer problems and be forced to exit the race early. It was a huge bummer for Bisceglia as he would officially end up in 19th. He looked ready to contend deep in the top 10 but we will have to wait another week to see if he can put together a complete main event and get back to his old form.
