alex ray entered Daytona looking to make his third main event of the season. the unique track in Daytona would provide an added challenge for ray but he put together a great practice qualifying effort notching the 25th fastest time. It was one of his best practice ef-
forts of the year and he was hoping it would translate to the night show.
Ray began his night by getting off to a bad start in his heat race. He came around lap one in 12th place and couldn’t find the groove he had going in practice and lost a spot to 13th where he would ultimately finish. That finish in the heat meant that Ray would be on to the semi where he would suffer an even worse start than his heat race and he would end up finish- ing in last place. With the first two races not going his way, Ray knew he had to step up big time in the LCQ if he wanted to make the main event. And in the LCQ, Ray would grab his best start of the night coming around lap one in 8th but then he would struggle to move forward and would get passed throughout the course of the race. He ended up finishing 11th and fell short of notching his third main event of the year.
