Dakota alix rolled into Daytona confident after getting a solid week of training down at the Daytona modified track at MtF. the Daytona-esque track at MtF prepped alix for a great night and that translated to a great 11th place qualifying effort. He looked poised and ready
to battle all night long on the gnarliest track of the year.
Alix started his night by ripping a great start putting himself in 4th place. He would quickly pass title contender Malcolm Stewart for 3rd but Stewart retaliated just as fast to regain the position. After that early battle, Alix settled into 4th for the remainder of the race setting himself up nicely with a good gate pick for the main event.
The main event came around and Alix was able to get out to another great holeshot. He sling-shotted into 3rd place right
in the thick of a battle with all the title contenders in the class. He battled hard with them during lap one but Davalos would work by for 3rd. After lap one, Alix began to settle into 4th place just like in his heat race but this time he would get some company. A very fast and charging Justin Hill quickly got by a few laps into the race and just after the half way point Aaron Plessinger would also sneak by Alix leaving him by himself in 6th. Despite getting passed, Alix was still in perfect position
to log a huge career best as he was logging some very solid times. However, when all looked perfect, disaster struck with just two laps to go when the deteriorated Daytona track would come up and bite Alix knocking him down. He was able to remount and ride to a 14th place finish. It was a great night for Alix but he would suffer from yet another main event mistake. He has to be upset he crashed out of a huge career best finish but he now has the confidence and experience that comes from running up front. Look for a fiery Dakota Alix next weekend north of the border in Toronto.
