Davalos seems to like that red, candy paint on his backgrounds, but wouldn’t ev-
eryone? He took advantage of the furthest inside gate position possible and shot
out of the launch pad like a scalded dog to take an early lead in heat one.
Lap by lap he continued to lead, although not being extremely relaxed; the pressure from “Mr. Out- doors” (Jeremy Martin) was rising behind him. However, it seemed as though Davalos really began to show his age remaining composed, and taking the checkered; a perfect way to begin the night.
The second round, the gateway to the championship; would Davalos feel the pressure of the title already? As he chose in his heat race, Davalos lined up for the furthest inside gate and rallied third place in the opening moments, as he trailed Malcolm Stewart and J-Mart. The track began to get choppier, as each competitor began to drag the rear wheel for optimum charging into the berms.
