Mike appeared to be gelling with the initial third of the track, as he actually set the fastest segment (one) of the semi. after rounding the first lap in fourth and eyeing the tlD gear of Cole Seely, alessi began to swiftly choose his lines and focus on himself. with the track seeming a bit tight to most, many found it difficult to execute a move. well in this case, it played into 800’s
advantage, as he crossed the line in fourth every single lap, and strolled into the main card.
After an opening lap mishap saw him cross the flagger’s stand in 22nd, Alessi had all kinds of work to do. He had that chip on his shoulder, in a positive manner; preparing to fight and scrap his way for every position in order to garner a positive
result.
Each lap he would pick riders off, Hahn, Schmidt, Friese, Weimer, Peick, the list went on. The arm pump woes of the
past didn’t seem to exist, as his time on lap 18 was just a mere 1 1⁄2 seconds of his fastest time (4). Mike would hold his head high
despite his unforeseen difficulties, and complete the event in 16th.
