Chad reed of yamaha Factory racing is carrying the confidence of last weeks podium finish into Daytona. Starting his heat race in 8th just a few places out of the transfer spot he moves up into 7th right behind Brayton. not quite getting the edge to move forward he finishes the
heat race in 7th having to move onto the semi. Reed had said that he was disappointed in the track, which showed, he never looked that comfortable during his races. Letting his discomfort of the track creep into mind Reed was unable to make it into the main out of the semi sitting just one spot out behind Weimer, causing him to move on to the LCQ, his first of the year. Being his last chance to make it into the main, Reed got a good start in 4th, passing Schmidt and Hahn on lap 1. He finishes 2nd transferring to the main. Reed didn’t get the best start in the main beginning the race in 16th. He moves up to 15th passing Weimer. Then Nicoletti goes down moving Reed up yet another position. Continuing on with his consistent riding style he manages to pass Bagget with just 5 laps to go. Millsaps goes down hard on the last lap leaving him unable to finish the race. Chad Reed finishes the Daytona Main event in 12th place not his best of the year but not his worst.
