Having the 18th fastest lap time in practice, the legends and Heroes Kawasaki rider had a rough gate pick for his heat race. Making the best of a less than ideal gate pick, audette punched his ticket into the main event with an 8th place finish in the heat race. Having Daytona being the longest race of the year, making the
main out of his heat allowed Gannon to get some much needed recovery time.
Leaving the first turn in second to last, the Kawasaki rider needed to put his head down to make quick passes. Finding a steady flow, Audette started to make passes to better his position.
