McCarty started in 3rd position on the opening lap, quickly working his way around Noah Jandebeur on
the second lap and consequently setting his sights on Yates out front. The pressure ended up coming from behind McCarty as Hunter Schlosser moved his way from 9th place all the way up into 3rd position, just 1.4 seconds behind the Coloradoan at the finish line. Schlosser was able to pass the first moto victor, Stine- baugh, for the final podium spot on the third lap, but Stinebaugh rode well enough in 4th to preserve his overall podium finish.
