He matched the lap times of the leader, but he wasn’t able to close the gap to the front and he ended
up crossing the stripe in 2nd position after four laps of racing. Maddox Jarvis worked his way toward the podium after a 5th place start, moving into 3rd position on the second lap as he consistently inched away from the ensuing pack. Smith started the second moto at the front of the field as he began to build a small gap over Allen and Jarvis in tow. On the third lap, Smith made a mistake and dropped back to 3rd position, allowing Allen into the lead and Jarvis into 2nd position.
